As I recap our experience in the Valle de Guadalupe wine region, I’m thinking ahead to a small-group wine trip next year.  The modernist boutique hotel of Encuentro Guadalupe is a must.  Each room boasts floor to ceiling windows with a view of the valley and the on-site restaurant is equally stunning.  www.grupoencuentro.com.mx

We would also visit Cava Maciel to say hello to Jorge, and maybe get a barrel tasting next time.  Emeve served excellent wines, and would be a repeat stop as well.  There is golf at Bajamar, plus a country club on the south side of Ensenada that is open to the public.  So, there is the possibility of more than wine.

The locals advised us that the boarder crossing can take up to 3 hours in Tijuana, and it was recommended that we go through Tecate on our way back into the states.  We didn’t do it, because it was further from our hotel, but next time around, we definitely would plan for this entry point.  If you’re interested in this future small-group trip with us to Valle de Guadalupe, or to any other wine region in the world, just reach out to TravelingWineLady@mac.com
