If you are in the Texas Hill Country, pick up your phone now for a dinner reservation at Cabernet Grill! I live outside of Fredericksburg and as owner of a small business downtown, I’m often asked for recommendations. This is the restaurant I most refer to regularly.
I had a lovely dinner this week and once again was blown away!
 
After our usual starter of Texas Twinkies (sausage stuffed jalapeños with cheese, wrapped in bacon – yum!), I continued with the goat cheese appetizer and Pecan Crusted Crab Cakes. My husband enjoyed their new Chicken Fried Quail – outstanding! Our friends enjoyed a perfectly prepared steak and Trout that was the special for the evening. The Brussel Sprouts with Bacon are always a great side too.
 
After some fantastic Texas wines from Bent Oak, McPherson, and Perissos, we ended on an outrageous chocolate yummy-something desert. It was like a lava cake with ice cream on the side. And the Hazelnut Creme Brulee.
 
Our server, Rich, always takes excellent care of us and is fun and entertaining. And you should say Hi to Elizabeth – she is the manager and has a fantastic eye for detail.
 
We are so fortunate to have a great food scene in our small town of Fredericksburg, and Cabernet Grill should always be on your list!
