Tonight, we have venison steaks, cooked on the gas top with red wine and dried cherries.  I’ve stuffed a bag of pureed cauliflower in the microwave and topped it with butter, a touch of sour cream, salt and pepper.  And, poured a couple of glasses of Stone House Vintners 2011 Special Reserve Merlot from Napa Valley.  I’m glad we opened this wine tonight, because I fear it is at its peak.  There’s the expected dried cherries and vanilla, but also a bit of a tart finish.  The wine goes well with the venison, although, I cooked the meat a hint too long.
